The 2012 White Squirrel Festival buzz is just starting. This is the 9th Annual Festival which takes place over Memorial Day weekend, May 26th and 27th. It is promising to be “bigger and nuttier” then ever.

The White Squirrel Festival happens in downtown Brevard and offers FREE live music and many other activities. You can’t beat that! The headliners this year include; Firecracker Jazz Band, Jeff Sipes Band and 14 other acts that will play through out the entire weekend. Make sure you get there early and scope out a prime space to put your lawn chair and settle down for some amazing music.

In addition to some phenomenal music, the festival also offers a huge array of arts and crafts. Vendors come from all over the country to display and sell their work. They start booking months in advance for the opportunity to have a stall at this street festival. As the Festivals reputation grows, it continues to get bigger and bigger.

One of the favorite activities is the annual  White Squirrel Soapbox Derby. This derby is becoming very competitive with teams coming from all over the Southeast and locally as well. It is a crowd pleaser and happens in the center of town on Jailhouse Hill. First race starts at 1:30pm on May 26 and continues on May 27. Click here to see the Race Scehdule.
