Salary: $40,000 per year with a potential performance bonus of up to $5,000

As a Motel Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and high standards of customer service, housekeeping, maintenance, and hold substantial knowledge of the local travel and adventure tourism.

Job Description

We are looking for a professional and experienced Motel Operations Manager to oversee daily activities at our motel. As a Motel Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the staff, budgets, and all facets of the motel’s operation, including a significant role in marketing oversight. Your primary goal will be to ensure that our guests are satisfied and that our operations run smoothly, efficiently, and profitably.

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations of the motel, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and reservations.

  • Uphold the guest experience as your highest priority, including ensuring the quality and comfort of the accommodations and proactively addressing any onsite issues of decorum, aesthetics, cleanliness, or otherwise that would detract from their stay.
  • Hire, train, and manage staff performance to ensure high levels of service and efficiency.
  • Manage motel budgets and financial plans.
  • Monitor occupancy rates, set room prices, and approve marketing and promotional services.
  • Address customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare regular reports on expenses, budgets, and occupancy rates.
  • Evaluate the performance of the motel and suggest and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Oversee property maintenance, repairs, upkeep, landscaping and appearance.
  • Maintain compliance with all operational permitting and emergency services.

Marketing Oversight:

  • Oversee marketing and promotional strategies to boost occupancy and revenue.
  • Maintain up-to-date PR kit online.
  • Oversee the collaboration with online travel agencies, participation in local tourism events, and maintaining an active online presence to promote the motel.
  • Monitor and course-correct social media accounts and content, ensuring engaging and brand-consistent messages.
  • Coordinate with external marketing agencies and consultants as needed to enhance promotional efforts.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of regular newsletters to keep guests informed and engaged.
  • Ensure the motel’s photo gallery is continuously with proud, appealing photographs to attract new guests.
  • Ensure marketing newsletters include local festivals and activities that could bring potential guests to the motel and strategize promotions around these events.
  • Optimize channel booking systems and ensure accurate and compelling content across all channel partner feeds.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Hotel/Motel Manager or similar managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of hotel/motel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills along with the ability to resolve conflicts and issues.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and hotel property management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or relevant field is preferred.
  • Must reside within a 20-minute drive of the motel and have a history of living in the local area.
  • Be familiar with the area’s adventure tourism industry and have an understanding of the local community and its tourism dynamics.
  • Familiarity with Brevard and the adventure tourism industry is essential.
  • 5 years experience in motel/hotel management required.
